Well, its been a while since I last updated. Logan is growing on me. It has taken me pretty well this long living here to realize, I don't have to love it like I loved Cedar City, but I can find joy while I am here. It is only temporary.
My attitude toward Logan changed when I had to prepare a relief society lesson a few weeks ago. Oh ya, I have been serving in the relief society presidency. Anyway, my lesson was called Good Things to Come When We Have Faith in Our Bright Futures. I used the mormon message good things to come by Elder Holland and a talk by President Monson where he says the Future Is As Bright As Your Faith. It was a real eye opener for me. The ward we live in has given us many opportunities to serve. It is a ward full of apartment complexes and four houses. Yes, four houses total. So it is always changing. One thing I felt I really needed to address in this lesson was that we need to be permanent members of whatever ward we are living in, no matter how short a time we are there. This was important for me because, I keep looking at vet school in four years and living in Logan as only two years. While we will be in Logan only two years, a lot can happen in two years. Austyn will be two before we leave here to go to Pullman. That is a lot! So, I have been trying to focus on some of the good things here in Logan.
For example, we live two minutes away from Walmart. All my favorite stores are within 5 minutes of my house. Logan isn't as cold as everyone says it is. While those seem super silly, they are a big deal to me right now. I am starting to have friends, not just acquaintances. Which is making a huge difference. Also, my family is here; Jared and Austyn.
Austyn is growing like crazy. She is nine months old. She wants to walk so bad, but thankfully is still a little ways off. Why doesn't anyone tell you how fast they grow? Oh wait, everyone tells you that. I just didn't believe them until I had one of my own!
We enjoy getting out of the apartment when Jared has a free minute to explore the area. We like driving around and seeing all the different small towns in the Cache Valley. We have also enjoyed visiting a few of the factory stores. There is beauty to be found no matter where you live. You just have to look for it.
