Great Sunday

We had a great Sunday. For the first Sunday in a while I didn't take a huge nap. I spent the day cooking. Yes, I did just say cooking. We made cupcakes and took them to people in our ward. We visited a new couple and some old friends. It was great. I think the best part of the day came when we had the opportunity to go the the Beehive House for a sacrament meeting there. There were about 5 ladies and one man. Jared and Cameron Hunter gave talks. Katie Hunter and I said the prayers. The boys passes the sacrament and Katie provided the music. It was so neat to be there with them. One lady came right up to me and held my hand most of the way through the meeting. She even told me she remembered me from when I was little. It was cute. It was especially nice to do somethings for other people on our Sunday. It really made a difference in my attitude. I can't wait until we can go to the Beehive House again. I might even want to make Sunday treat night a weekly or monthly thing. It was so nice!

Not The Same

Nothing can ever be the same as it once was. So my last post was about a return to athletics. Well, nothing can ever be the same again. As I sat in the stands and watched, everything I knew about running athletic events had been changed inside the SUU Centrum. It didn't seem to be a bad change it just wasn't familiar anymore. When I miss that job, attending a sporting event always changes that because it so different than it used to be. I loved what I was able to experience, I have just moved on now. Love SUU Athletics

A Return to Athletics

So, tonight, my new job is interacting with my old job. In a way a return to athletics. It is bittersweet to go to games in the Centrum and not be running things anymore. Tonight could be a nice change. I always end up missing it when I go home, so I am pretty sure I will end up missing athletics when I go home. The relief comes when I don't have to go to a double header the next day. I guess I just loved my athletic department job more than I realized.

What is Happiness?

As most of us go along in life do we ever stop to take note of what really makes us happy? I guess I have just been a little down, with it now being cold and being January, but what really makes me happy? Google is like the greatest thing ever! So I went there and searched happiness images.

These are what came up:
Charlie Brown always seemed so sad and picked on, yet here he is happy.

I want to make beautiful art that catches peoples eye and makes them happy.

I am so happy to invent my own happily ever after.

Isn't it time we stop and smell the roses in a sense. At least come to realize what constitutes happiness.
These are just a few of the things that bring happiness into my life. I know I take advantage of the simple moments that really mean the most. This is one of my most favorite videos referring to The Things That Matter Most
Every time I watch it, I am able to as it says slow down and enjoy the little things. I think that is the most important part of happiness that we often times forget. I don't want to grow old before it is time because I forgot what it feels like to be happy. Just a happy thought to share.

Family Time

Weekends are so nice. We have had the wonderful opportunity to spend time with our families the last two weekends. Last weekend we went to my family's house and to a mission companions wedding. It was so fun to meet more of Jared's friends. This weekend we spent with the Hamilton's. It was Baby Jared's birthday party. It was a lot of fun. I helped Kayleen with the themed party. We made Cookie Monster and Elmo cupcakes. I am not crafty, but they turned out way cute!

These aren't the ones we made, but ours looked just like this! Kayleen is such a cute mommy!!!

It is so nice to spend time with family. We are so blessed to have our families and our siblings living close enough we get to see them regularly. It was a great weekend.

Good Advice

There has been lots of good advice on Facebook today. Here is some more.

Happiness

A friend of mine posted this to Facebook. Isn't it the truth though? Something to live by.

Learning

I am learning so much already this semester. I found out professors prefer if you are skipping class for a networking and future career opportunities than if you are skipping for a doctors appointment. Needless to say, I'll have more to say about this at a later date. Also, 1000 level classes have more rules than upper division. I think this is to teach Freshman how to be responsible and succeed in college. I am learning I know nothing about social media and how to improve my score on Klout. Maybe in more time I can become an influencer. Perhaps when I start my other blog about country music. This blog will be an assignment but I am excited to share about country music new and old. It will be a new adventure to step behind the lens of a camera and learn what constitutes art in photography. This semester sounds a bit like I am playing around. But really, I am becoming a well rounded individual by exploring the fun classes I didn't have time for on my quest to graduate. I am learning, I should have done more of this and done it sooner. Will this semester lead me to love photography, be a social media expert, a true horseman, an event planner, a better communicator... Or will I just graduate with some of the tools I will need in my future family, career or other life ventures. Who knows. All I know is that I am learning.

You cannot open a book without learning something.

Social Media-KLOUT

So this is the first day of my last semester. I am taking a social media class. After one class I now know why people so are fascinated with social media. Each person in the class had to pick a social media platform (website) to become an expert on for the semester. I chose Klout. It is to the new eye a popularity contest. It combines each and every other social media you have an account with on to one site to measure your Klout. It is so cool. Just starting today I have a score of 16. You may think that sounds low but the average Klout score is 20. I'm not far behind on my first day. I am excited to learn and explore Klout more and to see what other social media platforms are out there. I am looking forward to this class!

The Help

Have your heard of The Help? Seen the movie or read the book? If you haven;t you are missing out. This book and movie are incredible. The only way I think it could have been better is if it was based off a true story. Jared even liked it.

This book is written by Kathryn Stockett. One of the reviews said, This book is the best piece of fiction since To Kill A Mockingbird. If you read only one book, let it be this." I love To Kill A Mockingbird too.

I loved this book. It made me wonder how real of a depiction of the 1960s it really was. It was interesting in the book to watch as real historical events took place. MLK and JFK. It was a great book and I would recommend it to anyone!
